I never had sequined tights, and I am surprisingly OK with that. I realize there may be those of you out there who are in therapy over this issue, but I want you to know that there is life beyond the fashion missteps of the past, be they sins of commission or sins of omission.
Groovy patterned tights were very common in the 1960's as seen in this picture from a 1964 Ladies' Home Journal article that went on to show a number of leg exercises one could do to firm up those pudgy spots and look good doing so. They all seem very tame in comparison to the torture I put myself through at the gym these days. I suspect my sequined tights days are behind me now.
I did, however, have a pair of fishnet hose in bright yellow when I was a child. They were tough as nails and were probably excellent for exfoliation, but not all that comfortable otherwise. I wish I still had them. They were given to me by my renegade grandmother and her 4th husband; and my mother, who had just relinquished making me wear crinoline dresses to school, thought they were a fashion disaster, which probably made me love them all the more.
Ah, the sweet taste of rebellion.
